Product Description
Do you have gear you want/need to mount on the roof of your Jeep® Grand Cherokee?. Well have no fear Offroad Animal has you covered.
The Wk2 Grand Cherokee has an interesting roof set up. Jeep put these 12 threaded buttons (6 per side) on the roof. Nice right. Well almost. First of all they used the front and back ones to hold the fancy channels used to take roof bars, then are held down via the 4 in the middle.
Biggest problem is they are located on a section the the roof that can't really take much weight at all. Hence why Jeep gave the roof some crappy load rating. This is because if you put more load up there you're going to damage your roof.
Then we have some roof rack manufacturers (not Offroad Animal) who mount their roof rack directly onto these buttons. C'mon man, bad choice. Say hello damaged roof if you put anymore weight up there (don't forget to add the weight of the roof rack too.)
Offroad Animal Jeep® Grand Cherokee Roof Racks has a cool system that ups the roof loading to 120kg / 264lbs dynamic * (driving) and 240kg / 528lbs static * (sitting still.) We manufacture these super slim rails that push the load to the strongest part of the roof (join of Roof and sides). Not only that but they use the rolled steel rail to join all 6 roof buttons per side for one strong system. So just like that you can up your roof loading to 264lbs. Nice right. We think so.
*Note that unlike some competitor products, our ratings are based on the roof rack installed on the roof, and they account for the structural limitations of the roof itself. The roof rack and mounting rails themselves are capable of sustaining much higher loads - but that is irrelevant ! At least we think so ...
Here is a picture of a damaged roof button from putting to much weight on the factory system.
This was the result of traditional cross bars with a roof top tent

In Love With This Roof Rack
Hands down the best roof rack I have found on the market. Extremely easy to put on, light weight like all their products, but extremely durable. I am 250lb and have no problem standing on it. You definitely get the most room from it compared to any other roof rack on the market. It is pricey, but I believe everything is worth the money spent. The product is shipped beautifully as well! Not a scratch on anything when it arrived.

Love this thing, customer service to boot !
Was looking for a roof rack for ages before stumbling on these guys. Originally ordered a Gobi but after 18 weeks waiting the delivery slipped again so cancelled that order. Then I discovered Offroad Animal and heard great things about their customer service and let me tell you, it is 5 star service all the way. They returned my call within 15 minutes, helped me figure out the wind deflector installation, and the wind noise was fixed within 30 minutes ! I have never had service like that before. I now have my Roof Top Tent installed and ready to get lost. Highly recommend these guys.

Heavy duty rack. Serious Quality with service to match
This is a serious rack for the Grand Cherokee that is a must if you want to carry gear above into the back country. Suitable for rooftop tents and pop ups. Service kicked in when we had a shipping issue. Good people.

Form and Function, All in One!!
I have had this on for several days now, and I am very happy with how it turned out! Not only do I now have more room for gear on the roof, I can also rest assured that I will not break it now that the load bearing has been shifted from the roof rivets to the join of roof between sides and roof. So far, I have only mounted a hi-lift jack, but plan on adding an awning and roof top tent. At first, there was an awful sounding rattle, but after inspection I found it was an operator error - I had not tightened a bolt on a cross rail tight enough - now its silent! I have only been driving a few days with it, but I am pleased to report that at highway speeds there is not much wind noise, and MPG has only been nominally effected, less than 1 mpg.
